NOW LAUNCHED!  MI New Home is an innovative new scheme which aims to help those with only a 5-10% deposit buy a new build home.

Supported by the Scottish Government, it is open to anyone looking to buy a new build home and enables participating lenders to offer up to 95% mortgages on homes up to £250,000 sold by participating builders.

Lanarkshire couple Lindsay Maxwell (34) and Stephen Thomson (30) (above) were the first to take advantage of the MI New Home scheme and just celebrated their first Christmas in their new home.

Previously living with their respective parents, Lindsay said:

"We thought it would take at least another year of saving for a deposit before we could move but the MI New Home scheme made a huge difference and just goes to prove that you shouldn’t be put off - there are mortgage options out there.”
